Double O.G. is O.G.’s older brother, a vato who spent 20 years behind bars. Now that he’s out, he lives in a one-room shack behind O.G.’s house with his ex-cellmate, Perico. They were released together, but adjusting to life on the outside hasn’t been easy.  After so many years locked up, Double O.G. carries a bad attitude—everything sets him off. He swears the system is built to make him fail. No one wants to hire an ex-con, and every time he applies for some low-paying, no-skill job, they treat him like trash. That only fuels his anger, and he walks out before they can reject him.  Still, he and Perico are determined to stay free, even though they sometimes miss the structure and friendships they had behind the walls. To make ends meet, they carve and paint Homie wall clocks and coffee tables, selling them at the pulga. It doesn’t bring in much, but it keeps them fed, keeps them busy, and—most importantly—keeps them out of trouble.  Now, Big Dopey? He doesn’t trip about the Homies calling him that. He figures it’s con cariño—you know, with love. But don’t get it twisted—if anyone’s got a problem, they can step up and handle it.  Big Dopey actually reminds me of my primo Zack from Burque. Any of you veteranos from Albuquerque probably know him—he’s the one rolling that show-winning ‘64 Impala. If I told him I made a Homie toy in his honor and named it Big Dopey, though… well, let’s just say he might take a trip to Cali looking for me. And that could be dangerous!  One of my all-time favorites, with a special place in my heart—show some love for Big Dopey!
