Sister Maria is an old-school nun from the Sisters of Mary and one of the strongest education-focused characters in Homies Series 8. She has dedicated her life to faith, service and guiding young students at Virgen de Guadalupe Elementary School.
At the school, Sister Maria serves as both principal and vice principal while also teaching religion classes. Her responsibilities extend far beyond administration, as she takes a personal interest in the academic progress, behaviour and spiritual development of every student.
She is known for maintaining strict standards. Graffiti, smoking, swearing, gang-related behaviour and weapons have no place in her classroom. While her traditional disciplinary methods may seem severe by modern standards, her character is defined by the belief that boundaries, responsibility and education can help young people avoid destructive choices.
Students may find Sister Maria demanding while they are under her care, but many later appreciate the structure and guidance she provided. Her graduates are known for progressing successfully into high school, which she considers one of her greatest achievements.
Faith remains at the centre of Sister Maria’s work. She teaches her students to seek compassion, grace and guidance through the Virgin Mary while treating education as an opportunity to create a better future.
Collectors appreciate Sister Maria because she brings religion, discipline and education into the Homies universe. Her strong values and commitment to young people connect naturally with community mentors such as El Profe, El Padrecito and Big Loco.
