Painter was Dreamer’s closest Homie, and even though Dreamer is no longer with us, Painter still feels his presence every day. They worked together on many mural projects, and Painter understood Dreamer’s style like no one else. When Dreamer would zone out, lost in his wild visions for new pieces, Painter could always see the picture in his mind too. While he wasn’t quite as imaginative as Dreamer, Painter mastered the technical side of art—anatomy, color theory, composition, and surface rendering. Young artists, take note: these are the essentials they teach you in art school. Being an artist is more than just drawing tattoo-style sketches.     Painter could make grass look so real, you’d want to lie down in it. He could paint water so lifelike, you’d feel like you could jump in. His lowrider paintings were so vivid, you could almost touch the layers of candy paint. And when it came to painting women, his work was so realistic, it left little to the imagination.     Even now, Painter feels connected to Dreamer on a deeper, spiritual level—something only an artist can truly understand.
