Mastablasta is the neighbourhood’s go-to source for hard-to-find music. Whether someone is searching for vinyl, CDs, cassette tapes or digital tracks, he always seems to know where to find it and how to turn it into a sale.
He may not have Jokachild’s technical DJ skills, but Mastablasta has an unmatched ability to track down rare songs, unusual versions and forgotten favourites. His collection ranges from classic funk and soul to Spanish-language recordings and old-school lowrider music.
Mastablasta works wherever potential customers gather. He can be found in mall car parks, schoolyards, local parks and along the boulevard, always carrying something new and ready to make a deal. His methods are not always official, making his story as much a cautionary look at music piracy as it is a portrait of a determined neighbourhood hustler.
Collectors appreciate Mastablasta because he represents the trading, collecting and underground-distribution side of music culture. His endless catalogue and entrepreneurial personality make him a distinctive companion to DJs, rappers and record-label characters across the Homies collection.
Mastablasta may be available in new or pre-owned condition, with original-bag options on selected listings. Review the chosen option before purchasing.
