Monster may not fit everyone’s idea of conventional good looks, but his mother has always believed he is the most handsome Homie in the neighbourhood. From the day he was born, his highly unusual appearance made him impossible to forget.
His father disappeared shortly after seeing him for the first time, leaving Monster to be raised by his mother. Despite that difficult beginning, she gave him the confidence to accept himself rather than allowing other people’s reactions to define him.
As Monster grew older, he eventually tracked down his absent father and confronted him about the disrespect shown to both him and his mother. The experience reinforced Monster’s belief that unusual appearances should never be treated as an excuse to abandon or mistreat someone.
Monster now works as security at the Barrio Cinemaplex, where his intimidating appearance helps discourage anyone thinking about causing trouble. His strong presence makes him well suited to the role, even before he says a word.
During Halloween, Monster also works seasonal jobs at local theme parks and haunted-house attractions. Employers value his naturally frightening appearance because he can walk straight into the exhibit without costumes, prosthetics or complicated makeup.
Collectors appreciate Monster because his story combines humour with themes of self-acceptance and family loyalty. His security role and Halloween connection also give him one of the most visually appropriate careers in the Series 10 lineup.
