The 1977 Pontiac Firebird was part of the second-generation Firebird range, which became an important symbol of American performance-car culture. Firebird-based competition cars brought the model's distinctive styling into motorsport, while drag-racing versions emphasised straight-line performance and aggressive competition styling.
