Payasa doesn’t smile much, even though her name means "clown."  As a teenager, she struggled with bad acne, which made her extremely self-conscious. She tried every treatment she could find, but nothing worked. To hide the blemishes, she started wearing heavy makeup, refusing to leave the bathroom until her face was fully done.  Because of this, her friends started calling her Payasa. The deep scars left from severe breakouts, especially on her nose, made her even more insecure. To cover them up, she began wearing a round red bulb over her nose. Over time, she leaned into the look, adding pointed mascara designs around her eyes—completing her signature Payasa style.
