What would a true Homie family be without Abuelita? No one cooks with more love than Bobby Loco’s Abuelita. Knowing how much Loco loves his tortillas, she still rolls them by hand. She makes the best chile, frijoles, and every other Mexican dish you can think of—from "lengua" (cow tongue) to tripas (guts). Abuelita has been like a second mother to Loco, raising him from a little vato to the big homie he is now. She loves to see the Homies eat well. Whenever they come over, they know they won’t leave without having a meal. If they don’t have seconds, she takes it personally. As sweet as she is, she’s also known to get fiery—she can throw a tortilla roller with deadly accuracy. Abuelita is deeply religious, praying daily to La Virgen de Guadalupe, asking her to relay her prayers to her son Jesucristo. She prays that the Lord keeps Loco and the other Homies safe. She prays for an end to the violence in the barrio, that Satan’s drugs and hatred stay far away, and that angels protect her grandson Loco, along with her other “mi hijos” (Hollywood, Smiley, and Pelon), who she has come to treat like her own grandchildren.
