El Profe, short for "The Professor," earned his name from the Homie students he teaches at Homie High. With a master’s degree in education, he’s not only highly knowledgeable but also wise about life in general. He has a deep love and commitment to the young Homies who pass through his classroom. Having grown up in the same neighborhood, he understands the struggles they face firsthand. Despite receiving offers from prestigious universities, El Profe chooses to stay at Homie High, believing that his presence and guidance are needed there the most.
